Today's passenger and light truck tire valves are electronic sensors that monitor and transmit tire pressure information to the vehicles onboard computer. As of Sept. 1, 2007, all vehicles under 10,000lbs GVW, excluding motorcycles and light duty trucks with dual wheels on an axle, are equipped with Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) which must be serviced each time tire and wheel service is performed.
